Starting the new school year can be a time of great excitement… and anxiety. Help calm your child’s fears (and your own) with these helpful tips. Parents can be supportive by getting organized ahead of time, which will eliminate some of the nerves that will inevitably occur.  Here are some ideas that can help you and the rest of the family ease in and make the transition a lot smoother, not to mention keeping organized and prepared.

Make a Nutrition Plan

Get creative with easy, healthy ideas for school-day meals. If you plan and gather what you need on the weekends, you’ll make life a lot less stressful and meals more nutritious during the week.

School Supply List

Before the teacher’s send out their specific requirements, head to the store and get the basics before they’re picked over and have a head start!

Prepare for Early Mornings

Prepare yourself for early mornings and prepare what you can the night before.  Being ready for a school morning is the best thing that you can do to get your family off to a great start!  It makes a HUGE difference (and cuts back on stress and chaos for the mornings).

Tour the School

If your school hosts an open house, be sure to go. Familiarizing your child with her environment will help her avoid a nervous stomach on the first day. Together you can meet her teacher, find her desk, or explore the playground.

Eat Breakfast

Make sure your child is up with plenty of time for a healthy breakfast with your favorite choice of Indian River Select® Brand juice of course.

Set Up Your Transportation Plans

Everyone will feel better if transportation to and from school is addressed well before the start of the school year, particularly if your child is walking, riding his bike, or taking the bus.

Organize

Make it a point to organize everything.  The kids should have a place for their back packs, where their supplies are, and a place of study.  This will help them focus and fall into routine.

Make A Schedule

To make the best use of your time and keep life from being harried, think about priorities for family members and then schedule them into the week.

Prepare for the Homework ahead

Having set routines and a place to study at home will make it easier for your child to be organized and successful at school.

Adjust To The New Routine

Ease into the school-year schedule, and give yourself some time to adjust. Getting back into the school routine can be a challenge for everyone in the family. To make the adjustment easier, start early and plan ahead.
