Get That Boost!

Get That Boost!

Staying happy & healthy this season

Let’s be real. Everyone can use a good pick-me-up every now and then, especially around this time of year. Summer is officially over and as much as anyone loves Fall and Winter, it’s a seasonal change that brings along some other shifts as well. We are up against mounting workloads and deadlines, runny noses, spending more time indoors, and it’s hard not to mention the general political climate that can stress even the most zen-like individual.

The good news? While all of these external factors are somewhat unavoidable, there are so many ways to cope and turn to your favorite pick-me-ups for support. Maybe it’s cozying up with a fluffy blanket and binge-watching your favorite series. Maybe it’s a big healthy meal made from scratch at home. Whatever makes you happy and keeps you healthy. We all need that little boost sometimes. And our immune systems need it too!

According to registered dietitian Julia Zumpano, RD, LD, Vitamin C is one of the biggest immune system boosters of all.Not getting enough of it can make you more likely to get sick. The last thing we need on top of normal everyday stress is a cold! For most people, there’s no reason to take supplements because you can get plenty of vitamin C the natural way, from foods like oranges, grapefruits, strawberries, tangerines, bell peppers, spinach, kale and broccoli. For instance, an 8-ounce glass of 100% orange juice boasts an impressive 137% of your daily recommended vitamin C intake.

Give your immune system that extra boost it needs to keep you healthy with this delicious smoothie recipe we made for you.  It uses Indian River Select orange juice to get that full dose of vitamin C and is packed with other natural, high-vitamin C foods too, so you’ll be feeling good and ready to power through whatever the season brings.
