How we Make our Juice
We keep the process very simple. We don’t freeze our products or add flavor packs. We hand pick our fruit, gently squeeze, carefully pasteurize and bottle it. Simple and fresh!
Indian River Select® Brand juice is carefully processed with Florida hand-picked fruit.
We carefully select and handpick only the freshest oranges and grapefruits. We only use 100% Florida fruit for our orange and grapefruit juice.
We use an automated pasteurization system to ensure every drop of Indian River Select® Brand juice is processed according to the regulations set forth by the FDA. This process ensures the best balance to ensure safety and maintain juice flavor.
Bottled and Shipped
Indian River Select® Brand juice is handled very carefully to ensure we preserve its natural flavor, color and aroma bottle after bottle all year-round. We never add flavor packs to maintain consistent taste, color or aroma as other competitors do. Our juice is freshly squeezed right into the bottle.
What is a Flavor Pack?
Have you heard the words “Flavor Pack” and are not sure what that really means? It may be confusing, mostly because as of now the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not require the contents of flavor packets to be written on a product’s packaging for juice, and it is all structured around a simple technicality.
Because of this lesser known fact about how some companies produce their juice, we’d like to help you understand what a flavor pack is and why they are used by other brands.
What is a flavor packet?
Some orange juice brands have chosen to work with flavor and fragrance companies to artificially flavor their juice using packets. This is to ensure that the juice, with time will maintain a homogenous coloring, aroma, and flavor. Because flavor packets are made from orange essence and oils and made to create a consistent taste they are not required to be listed as an ingredient because they are technically derived from orange offshoots, even though mechanically they have been chemically altered.
What is in a flavor packet?
The ingredients of flavor packs are made from orange-derived substances, such as essences and oils. Companies have broken down the essence and oils into individual chemicals and thereafter recombine them into flavor packs, making a consistent taste, color, and scent.
The sugars in our Juice are not actually that high compared to other beverages. Our juice is all natural so the sugar content is natural from the grapefruit and oranges we hand select. We don’t add any sugar to our juice to make it sweet. It’s just naturally made that way.
We’ve compared the sugar content of other beverages for you to see. All information shown below is comparing 8 fl oz.

Juice is a Good Source of Hydration
A study was recently done and shared on acefitness.com to evaluate exactly what drinks have what effect on the body, and how you can evaluate yourself by some of the data mentioned here. Hydration is an approximate measurement of reserves of water on the human body, and a severe reduction in hydration from either no water intake or diuretic usage is known as dehydration.
This study recruited 72 recreationally active, healthy male participants between the ages of 18 and 35. A large number of participants were needed due to the study design, which tested 13 different beverages. Each participant completed a maximum of four experimental trials that included water along with three other test drinks. Participants recorded their diet and exercise during the two days before the first trial and were asked to replicate it before their subsequent visits. They were also asked to avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol in the 24 hours preceding all trials.
The study further shows surprising results. For example, milk and skim milk both exhibit great re-hydration qualities, but sports drinks and sparkling water are on the bottom of less helpful drinks, even lower than cola’s. The most shocking results were not only that orange juice had excellent hydration results, but was also ranked #4 out of the 13 beverages tested in the study! Feel good when you refresh yourself with a cool glass of orange juice now.
