A healthy morning routine is a great way to start your day! It can set you up to successfully reach your health and fitness goals. When setting up a healthy morning routine, there are a few things to consider, such as; what time are you going to wake up, what is the first thing you want to do, what will you eat, and how will you move your body. Let’s break this down!
Choose a time that you will be able to wake up consistently. Whether you have to wake up for work or not, you should have a set time that you wake up (almost) every day to stick to a routine. If you do have a specific time you need to leave for work or school drop off, wake up early enough to complete your routine. Once you find a time that works for you, set your alarm for the week so you don’t have to think about it!
Next, you’re going to want to decide what you will do when you first wake up! I recommend not checking your phone right away and instead giving yourself a few moments before you jump into emails and social media. One healthy way to start your day is to drink a glass of water. This is good for your digestion and will help with hydration.
Starting your day with a healthy meal can set you up for success with your nutrition for the rest of the day! One thing that I have incorporated into our morning routine is Indian River Select Orange Juice! This is an easy (and delicious) way to get vitamin C, potassium, thiamin, folate, and vitamin B6. I feel confident drinking this juice and giving it to my toddler because they never add any flavor packs, preservatives, or sugar.
This leads me to the next part of a healthy morning routine, how are you going to move your body? This is essential as movement is not only physically beneficial but vital for your overall health. I love waking up early and heading to the gym, where I will walk at an incline for at least a mile. I also incorporate weight training into my workouts a few times a week depending on how I am feeling. There are several ways to integrate movement into your morning, such as; yoga, going for a walk (outside or on a treadmill), going to the gym, and at-home workouts (there are so many online programs to choose from). You have to find what works for you and what you are willing to commit to. I love switching it up, too!
Movement is movement, the most important thing is to just move your body!
