Orange Adrenal Smoothie
Motherhood is one of the best and most stressful parts of a woman’s life. It’s full of joy and memories but also sleepless nights and increased cortisol levels. This increase in cortisol, the stress hormone, can wreak havoc on our body if we don’t take care of ourselves. There are a few simple things that you can do on a daily basis to refill your cup.
First thing in the morning, get outside and get your feet in the grass. 20 minutes of sun in the morning helps get your circadian rhythm on track and will help you produce melatonin later that night. Getting your feet in the grass, also known as grounding, will help to decrease any inflammation you might have and will give you positive energy throughout the day.
Prioritizing nutrition to fuel your body is another way to make sure you don’t feel run down. What you put in your body can either increase your energy, or lead you to a crash later in the day. Starting with proteins and fats will ensure you have the energy you need to tackle the day. Some of my favorites are eggs and avocado! The biggest things to avoid on a daily basis are processed foods and seed oils. Both will increase stress and inflammation in the body.
That being said, there are some days that you can’t avoid the stress and it just seems to pile up. On those days I make sure to support my adrenals with an adrenal cocktail. This mix will give you minerals, electrolytes, and vitamins with a few simple ingredients.
All you need is….
- 1 cup of orange juice,
- 1 cup of coconut water,
- a pinch of sea salt,
- and either a splash of coconut cream or a bit of cream of tartar.
Mix it all together and enjoy!
You can enjoy this refreshing mocktail daily and it’s a good replacement for your morning or afternoon coffee!
