These Orange Sticky Buns are downright amazing, and the best part? All you need are some regular pantry goodies and some top-notch orange juice. In less than 2 hours, you’ll be digging into the tastiest treat around.

Pro tip: Whip up an extra batch, and you’ve got yourself a sweet weekday indulgence too!

Ingredients for buns

  • 6 tbsp nonfat milk, or non-dairy milk of choice
  • 4 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • ½ tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ – 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour or whole wheat flour

Ingredients for Orange Sauce

Instructions
  1. Let’s activate the yeast. Take ¼ cup warm milk in a bowl. Add 1 tsp sugar and yeast. Set aside for 5 mins. So the yeast activates.
  2. Now let’s make the dough. Take flour, ¼ cup sugar, salt in a bowl and mix well. Now add in yeast mix, milk, and knead to a soft dough. Add oil or melted butter to the dough and knead for 1 minute. Cover and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour.
  3. While the dough is rising, let’s make the orange sauce. Take orange juice, orange zest, sugar, and butter in a saucepan. Bring everything to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes till the sauce thickens. Set aside so it can cool down a bit.
  4. Once the dough is risen, remove the dough onto a well-floured surface. I used a silicone mat for easy working. Dust the work surface with dough. Knead the dough once. And start rolling. Roll it into a rectangle.
  5. Now spread butter all over the dough and sprinkle with the remaining ¼ cup of sugar evenly. Now roll it into a tight log. Use a thread to cut it into small rolls. Make sure the size of the rolls is even.
  6. Now take your baking pan. I like to line mine with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Now pour the orange sauce over the pan. Place the rolls on the pan. I was able to fit 9 rolls on my baking pan. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. In the last 10 minutes of rising, preheat the oven to 180 degrees C. Now place the pan into the oven and let them bake for 25 to 30 mins. Remove and let them cool for 5 mins. Unmold, now the sticky orange sauce will be on top of the rolls.
  8. Pull apart the rolls, serve warm, and enjoy!
